New Audio Files @ IBN
Daron IBN08 and his great team of broadcasters that have been
submitting audio files for us to enjoy have been very busy. We had a lot of new files that have been added this last week: Just an FYI - you may have to highlight and copy the entire link below as sometimes it gets cut off due to the web posting PA, Westmoreland - House Fire Description: Length - 16:19 Just before 1400hrs on 22 November 2006, the Westmoreland EOC Fire Dispatch Desk received a call reporting a house on fire near Rt. 982 in the Kecksburg section of the county. Station 76 was activated with command, and stations 35, 36, 37, 38, 58, and 109 were sent as M/A. Both of the first two units to arrive on scene report heavy smoke showing. Within minutes, they report flames out the windows and that there is a burned patient needing EMS attention. This area has limited hydrants, and the only two that are usable are very long lays. Command 76 immediately orders a tanker shuttle with dump tank, and asks Dispatch to send additional tankers. While this happens, Station 58 sets up the LZ and the patient is transported away from the scene and flown to a Pittsburgh burn Center. The water supply is weak at first which gives the fire a chance to really boil through the wood frame 2-story, causing extreme exposure hazards to nearby garages and out buildings. The radio traffic gets intense as crews attempt to protect the exposures by putting more hand lines into operation. They eventually use foam to stop the spread and the fire is slowly knocked, however it's almost an hour later before Command places the fire under control. Standby companies are put into place while crews do overhaul and mop up. They quickly got a suspect description, and an officer saw a vehicle leaving the scene with a possible suspect inside. The vehicle lead them on a short pursuit, before the four suspects inside the car bailed out on foot. Two suspects were caught right away and a search with several K9 units caught another suspect. The County Fire Dispatch Desk activated Stations 13 (Command), 87, 57, 3, 106, 10, 14 to respond. Upon arrival, CMD 13 reported the left side of the structure going good, and for the first engine in to lay a hand line to protect the exposure on Side B. Additional tankers were called to the scene to assist. Crews get a good knock on the fire and it is put under control, but they remain on scene for over an hour overhauling and mopping up. The cause for both fires is believed to be arson, and the fire marshal is still investigating.
