Is there any real need in the US to have the 800MHz phone freqs blocked
anymore??

Bloody annoying that we, who are not Governed by the US, have to suffer
the stupid and unnecessary blocking of 800MHz
In Australia our trunking band finishes partway into the blocked freqs
so trunk tracker scanners have problems
there was never a law here banning these freqs from radios but we had to
suffer it with radios made for the US but sold here

We have had a few "Non US" and even "Made For Aust" scanners here but
making them just for our very small market means much higher prices
ie. the "UBCD996T"(UBC=Aust, BC=US) was AUD$1000 or about US$850 and the
remote heat RH96 was AUD$400

Is there any action being taken in the US towards having this block
removed if the freqs are no longer used for Analogue Mobile Phone
Services?

Kev
