We have one of these clubs in our area and I think they have been waiting 20 years to save some lives, and none yet. What does this have to do with scanning? |

Really? I'll have to turn mine on and tell all the truckers on channel 19 and the guys that talk on channel 21 around here to remove their radios since no one uses CB anymore.

Nobody, and I mean nobody uses CB anymore. We have
snip What are all those voices that I hear on the lower side of channel 38? Tons of people talking. Some claim from New York, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida.............. Since nobody uses CB anymore, then I'll bet those voices are ALIENS! Some other planet must be using those frequencies. Nobody here on earth is. Holy Cow, I talked to one of them one time. I'm going to be famous. I made contact with an extra-terristrial. Couldn't have been a human. Funny how well they speak english. |

What's the matter? you're old Bearcat III doesn't have 11 meter crystals? Most high end scanners include the CB band, which I
use to assist in monitoring. I haven't saved any lives on the CB, but I do give out alot of directions to lost truckers in my area, what's wrong with that? Just so you know, your negative, do nothing, sit on your ass and whine, comments had nothing to do with scanning, either.....................**** off "Jeff" wrote in message news ![]() "J" wrote in message .. . http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CBemergencymonitors Is now open to all legal CB operators in the US who use their radios to assist motorists and who are interested in promoting the legal use of CB to assist with communications during emergencies. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nobody, and I mean nobody uses CB anymore. Try plugging in your antenna and turning the radio on. |

I finally remembered my CB packed away. Put up the magnetic antenna, plugged it into the lighter and in 5 minutes I had 3 trucks fighting for my business!!! I've also found monitoring the CB frequencies usefull for avoiding traffic problems. On top of that, whenever I see a broken down vehical I put out a call to let everyone know it's there and to hopefully attract the attention of some help Oh, and once I was sitting waiting for someone and watched as a fight broke out on the patio of a bar. I called out on 19 and in 30 seconds there were 3 cop cars there. I'm not sure if they were listening but they responded pretty darn fast if it was a regular 911 call! |

Many scanners cover 27 MHz so folks can have Ch 19, 27.185 Mhz AM
in a memory of a mobile scanner in the car. So they can keep track of traffic. If you put CH 19 in a priority channel, this will emulate a CB radio and allow instant access to road hazards, that may be broadcast over CB! One of my favorite saves is " ladders in the travel lane" that appear to have fallen off a truck, on the interstate highways here in New England. Once you get a feeling for the limitations of CB radios and understand them then CB monitoring is OK. JIM Andy in NJ wrote: Really?
