You misunderstand a motivation for obtaining a non-USA version IC-R5. The problem with the USA version IC-R5 (and IC-R20) is that ICOM deleted more than just the cellular phone frequencies. They cut important frequencies which are used by police, fire, and other agencies in the United States. Yep, Icom screwed up the R5 royally! I can't believe they even sell any US versions. Everyone should know by now about the R5. The unblocked version is really neat.
