Default Regency HX1500 'FrErr'

Scanner shows 'FrErr' on display - not low battery issue. You can enter a freq
into a channel and it will recieve but will not scan or when you turn it off
and back on it looses info and shows the 'FrErr'.
Have a working HX1500 and when I interchange the front cover with enclosed pcb
it now works. Whats in the circuit board in the front cover that might cause
this?
any ideas? Thanks, Dale

Thanks Mike for the thoughts. No backup battery in unit. Manual says: all
memory functions handled by an IC that includes a unique non volatile
memory...maintains freqs for 10 yrs w/o battery.
Checked on the cb and yup! no battery.
Believe this was a common problem...maybe soemthing to do with voltage
regulators?? But where and what component? Thanks, Dale

Mike, Not aware of any source for a circuit diagram. Since the scanner is a
bit older, I'm afraid one might not be readily available. Did numerous web
searches to no avail.
Anyone out there have a schematic?
Would a digital picture be of any assistance for you? There isn't much on the
circuit board in question.
Thanks again Mike.
