I am a Uniden fan also. The 780XLT was the last Uniden I have purchased
since that was a classic radio.

When it comes to DIGITAL, I switched to the GRE PRO-96 as IMHO they
make a much more user friendly digital scanner. You can generally buy
one for around $399 or so at Radio Shack if you watch the sales and use
other tricks for buying one.

I carry the PRO-96 everywhere!

If you want a base unit look for the new one they will start sellling
in January 2005.
