Not true. I live at least a mile from the closes McD's and it booms in when
I scanner around that band. It really depends on your radio and especially
your antenna. You probably will not be able to pick them up on a handheld
with a rubber duck antenna but add an good outside antenna and you probably
can listen to them from at least a mile away.
