Default Icom H16 - different versions?

I bought a used H16 to monitor the state patrol here in WA State.
They're on 155MHz. It turns out that the H16 has two "versions" - one
for each half of the band? Anyway, it looks like I have the version
that's covers 144, but not up to 155.

Is there any way to set the band range? I don't need the entire band,
but want to be able to program the upper half...

Thanks for any suggestions..

The H16 can cover a window of about 20-25 megacycles depending on the
particular radio. If the PLL goes out of lock the readouts will flash
and you'll know you're pushing the limits for that particular radio.
If the readouts aren't flashing, something else may be going on.

It is possible to move that window up or down some.

Even a low split radio should cover 155 easily though. It's when you
get into the 170s things start to get tricky.

Someone intimately familiar with the radio can retune the PLL and move
the window up some. I haven't done it in prob 10 years, and couldn't
put it into words. It's not difficult, bur you need to know the radio.

I believe the PA module may be different between splits. I know it is
on UHF. Don't remember if it was on VHF. If you're only receiving,
however, you don't care.

So your answer is: yes, it can be done. However I don't remember how.

Regards ... Steve
