Default Pro-2006 mods - 6400 channel mod

The 6400 channel mod as described in http://www.mods.dk says to cut the
trace between ic 505 pins 28 and 26, then install a jumper from ic501 pin
67 to ic505 pin 28. However my pro-2006 schematic shows the pad at 28
already connected to ic501 pin 67 via the pad at 26. My question is why
not just eliminate the jumper, slice the pin 26 lead from its pad and run
to the 5 volt pull up directly to 26.

I'd like to hear from anyone who did this mod about how
they handled this. Maybe the mod works exactly as stated?

Thanks, Steve B.
