Icom is also playing rebate games
Icom used to offer rebate for communications receivers but the rebate
was automatically taken off the total price in the retail store. Now, Icom is joining in the industrial rebate game to ask the buyers to physically mail in the materials to get the rebate. Too bad, just like many other consumers, I am no longer playing this kind of games. As soon as I see something on ad that the final price is published after the mail-in rebate, I skip it. Also, Icom's rebate for IC-R20 is only $20, not something like $100 worth waiting for 3 months and several reminder calls to the rebate processing center, cutting the UPC bar (which makes the retail box very ugly and also it severely reduces the resale value if you want to sell it off eBay later), and submitting the name and address that very likely end up in FCC or FBI's database. |
