Well I have it working with both Shoutcast and Windows Media Encoder. An observation if I may, no flame intended..... You can remotely tune the receiver as advertised, however it works best as a channleized setup. i.e. Pre programmed channels like a car radio, that one switches stations by pressing a button. Using this method, I have a friend, currently in Egypt, who can listen to the radio station of his choice by pressing the chan button and slecting the channel he wishes to hear. But for real time tuning, the buffering used by both systems, Shoutcast and WME, make it virtually impossible to tune across the spectrum as one would do locally. It maybe that you could incoropate an audio link in the server/client that does not use buffering. I realize that complicates the whole thing immensely, and that eliminating the buffering amkes the whole thing more subject to the moment ot moment vagarities of the net. Still a commendable effoert Jay and I do realize it's early days for the project. I anxiously await furhter improvements. Keep up the good work. Panzer Yep true... Those audio servers do run way too slow for faster frequency changes, that's why I plan on adding my own internal audio server that will enable a user to hear changes faster as they happen. On my test system, I noticed about a 2-3 minute delay using SHOUTcast. Way too slow for my needs as well... Another user said that he uses Teamspeak which he states is alot faster... Jay |
