Sometime last year I started a thread about the RF noise from wall
warts.
http://home.computer.net/~pritch/shortwav.htm

Telamon and I discused the best values of the diode "bypass" capacitor.

For those inclined to do the job "right", here is a link to a very
detailed method.

Enjoy.

Since noise limits my reception, I try to reduce it to as low a value
as I can.

Hi Terry,
Pete KE9OA first brought this to my attention while I was building one of
his HF Receiver designs- very worthwhile- especially for my remote mountain
location where manmade noise is at a minimum.

I thought the more serious SWL types might enjoy a better way to
de-noise
power supplies. In my case the local noise floor sets the limit to my
receptiion.
Anything I can do to lower that noise allows me to receive weaker
signals.

I posted this link several months ago and you might have missed it:

And Hosfelt electronics has some very nice 2 stage EMI filters that can
be
imroved greatly by a 1000pF across the line on the load side.
http://www.hosfelt.com/
look under filters for:
"Mfg - CURTIS
Mfg.# - F1600CA03
3" x 2" 1-1/2"
3 amp @ 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz
IEC 3 prong input, quick-connect output"
The price is right at $0.35 each. Curtis has the specs on line but I
don't have that URL handy.
