I bought a Tecsun DR-920 from an eBay seller for just under $30. I liked the clarity of FM reception but the selectivity is really bad. From my notes:
* A station on 104.5 MHz was heard on 104.3 - 105.7 MHz. * A station on 96.5 MHZ was also heard on 94.7 and 91.1 MHz. * A station on 98.1 MHz was heard on 95.5 MHz.

I'm not surprised, for that price. What you are experiencing DXers might call overload or spurious signals. Selectivity refers to the ability of am FM radio to separate stations only +or- 200 kHz from each other (adjacent channel) or separating stations +or- 400 kHz is called alternate channel selectivity or rejection. Most FM radios have poor adjacent channel selectivity. For your situation you might try pushing the antenna down partway & see if that clears things up. Also, rotate antenna & see if one direction takes out some of the overload. Otherwise for better FM reception you may need a better radio. I don't know how close you are to your local FM stations towers. If you're really close, almost every radio may have problems. You might want to try the Eton E100 pocket radio, someone said it could get distant FM near strong locals & they sometimes sell on eBay for only $20-30. George (MN) |

From my notes: -- weatherall Are you talking about This ?? http://tinyurl.com/zwqnx - Not really much of a radio; probably slightly better than the Bell & Howell 9-band STILL, you could hook it up to an aplified antenna and pick up.. virtuallly everything ! Never have to move the dial ever again . . . |

I have better radios in my collection, so I'm not too concerned. The small frequency range of the speaker on this unit is not ideal for the typical music broadcast on FM. I can continue using this radio for MW and SW, where images are not as problematic.
