Does anybody know if the Harris 590A is still in production. If not
what has Harris engineered to take it's place? I'm looking for
something to replace my R8B.

The 590A was still in production earlier this year. Are you looking for
a new one from Harris? That will only set you back $15k.

At that price I will be looking for a used one I'm sure. I wonder why
so much. I think $1500 is about what they go for used, so probably in
the spring I will get one. I'm actually taking a job at Harris in a
few weeks, so maybe I can buy a used one that's been gone through for a
good price. I have a friend who has one and told me the best radio he
has ever owned.

I needed cash so I sold the Drake. I'll get another R8B to replace it
for sure, just not yet. I I got 8 more bike payments (HD Anniversary
softail) to make before the radio cash will be flowing again.

I'm starting at Harris Comm. up in Rochester NY in Early January so
maybe I can make a deal there on a good used 590A. I'll ask my boss to
get involved and help me aquire one if he can. It's going to be a
different life up there in NY. If job works out well and is all I that
I expect, wife and I will buy a city house. The price of real estate
in Rochester is very reasonable compared to Boston. I have10 acres on
a hilltop about an hour south of the plant that I will hang my antennas
on and use for a weekend getaway.
