HD Radio Question: Software For Decoding ?

A high-school dropout, without a college degree - no quality US

those lousy credentials !
Actually, in Radio, that happens every day. At CCU. At CBS.
One of the common saws in Radio used to be: "Most people get into
radio because they washed out of Hamburger U."
That's been true of two of the stations I've worked at. One, not only
flunked out of Hamburger U, but managed to screw up the promotion and
advertising on a brand new McDonald's (this is in the 70's) so badly,
the store closed 3 months after it opened, and McDonald's couldn't get
traction in that market for nearly a decade.
The truth is, that people in Radio have been hired without much
educational credential since its inception. And even today, with
monolithic corporate ownership, people are being hired because of their
track records, and, in many cases, regardless of education.
Many of the successful broadcasters I know are high school dropouts.
Some have a bit of college history. But if I had to put a number on the
actual people I know who have college degrees in positions of
responsibiity in radio, I'd have to say it would be less than 40%. Your
mileage may vary.
And not to put too fine a point on this...much of what we complain
about, today, regarding Radio, is the result of MBA's rising in the
Chain of Command.
