I notice that Jean Shepherd at 2200 GMT ("the Separation Center") on
WBCQ today was recorded off Max Schmid's Mass Backwards on WBAI in
some form or other. (probably from a sound file on flicklives.com)

I know this because they had a bit of an ancient (LBJ was president)
newscast on WOR (Shepherd was originally on WOR and there was also a
syndicated version) and when they had a WOR station ID, Mr. Schmid
came on and gave a WBAI ID.

By the way, if you collect Brit radio shows, BBC 7
(www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7) has the first show of "I'm Sorry I haven't A
Clue" for a week on demand beginning Feb. 12. Graeme Garden, Bill
Oddie, Jo Kendall and Tim Brooke-Taylor with, of course, Humphrey
Lyttleton as chairman, all well lubricated with the official BBC
canteen wine, "Sans Fils" (without wires). No Samantha yet and no
Mornington Crescent.

It doesn't have very good audio quality because it came from a
listener's over the air recording, the original having been lost.

I think these tapes of The Jean Shepherd Show were "worked on" by
Michael Ketter, of WBCQ

removing some of the static & such at his Complex Variables Studio in
Pittsburg, Pa.

as a kid, I used to listen to "Shep" on WOR , broadcast out of New
York

I am truly glad that they are still being broadcast on WBCQ, Mondays
at 5:

In case you don't know, Jean Shepherd is mostly famous for the film

" a Christmas Story" about childhood & his family in Chicago, round
Christmas time..
