@v33g2000cwv.googlegroups.com: I still listen to SW every day. But the choices I grew up enjoying are mostly gone. If it wasn't for Radio Netherlands, R. Australia, CRI, and Taiwan, there'd be practically nothing. We can get a few hours of BBC from their African and other services, if propagation allows, but lately I've been trying to scan the bands and get only the religious programs in English. I suspect that most of the other-language signals I hear are also religious. I thought the quiet bands were due to the low sunspot cycle, but I just changed antennas and found there's still a ton of stuff to hear. The variety surprised me. For the first time in months I can hear R. Sweden, R. Portugal, RNZI, R. Veritas, AIR...nothing super rare yet but lots more than just the main powerhouses. I miss some of my old favorites like R. Denmark and Tahiti but there's enough to keep me busy for now. ---- |
