I agree.
I don't know the truth of the matter-whether Eduardo is real or a
talented imposter, and I do not agree with his market-driven, profit -
maximizing radio world, but if an imposter, he has certainly done his
homework. His posts have been well-composed and informative and he has
not sunk to the level of his foul-mouthed critics. DxEcch, alleged
collich graduate and holder of the prestigious Head Loser award,
always eager to spread dissention among the ranks, and add to the
word's total of nastiness, has been unable to disprove Eduardo's
existence but the malady lingers on.

Yep... dxAss has tried to even prove I do not exist, although someone with
my name answers 818 500 4321 any time he is in his office, so there must
either be a ghost or reality makes dxAss multiply himself by zero.

If I find any fault with Eduardo, it is in his tendency to dimiss
older people as irrelevant because they are outside his market
parameters. This highlights the difference between profit-maximizing
US broadcasters and public broadcasters such as the CBC, BBC, and PBS.

Remember, commercial stations play to two audiences... listeners, who can be
any age, and advertisers, who want specific ages. If over-55 is not desired,
then commercial radio can not serve it becasue nobody will pick up the
bills.

The public broadcasters have a mandate to serve all the people, not
just the profit-generators. This is unexpected, since Eduardo is
already on the verge of category oblivion.

I definitely understand why I am not in a target demo. I do not readily
respond to any advertising, and have fairly strong brand preference and
history. It would take more ads than it is worth to change my mind.

The fact that he's been rather reserved in his responses hasn't failed
to impress. Not even the foul mouthed cretins who regularly resort to
obscene name calling have managed to get him to sink to their level.

I may not like what he is saying, but compared to those who attack him,
he's generally been rather gentlemanly.

It may be just a coincidence, but most, if not all, of those attacking
him also seem to be supporters of the war on Iraq.

I have also complimented D.E. on his implacablility in the face of the
ignorant taunts.

Snip

The guy is a con-artist that believes his own BS. Being Implacable is
not a test for truthfulness. I've caught him in a number of lies. A word
I could use for his responses is stonewalling.

You mean like your insistence that, in radio, $750 thousand is a "lot" of
money? I think not. You simply are a DXer who is delightfully oblivious to
the way the industry that produces the signals you listen to operates. And
you are just totally off track in the way you think average, everyday
listeners use radio.

And you, Edweenie, are merely a sorry ass old pathological liar.

You have a perverse sense of the medium.

"his" tendency to dismiss...?

Saying it is his personal theory has been alluded to by several previous
posters. However, if you read his posts carefully, you will see that
this is not -his- personal theory.

I believe this "over 55" stuff is taken as a general truism by the
entire marketing industry (exception: unless you are trying to sell
Geritol). Don't treat it as "his" idea ; if you do, you are just blaming
the messenger!

We all have a perfect right to dismiss the words of anyone who
behaves like a marketing parrot. Once I see that someone is just
repeating blurb that they read or heard then I switch off - always
have done, I must have been about 15 when I saw through advertising.
Anyone with half mind does not buy into stuff because some demented
advertiser says it's the thing to do.

If we base our lives on garbage then our lives will be garbage. This
years garbage is pink, next years is brown - how satisfying is that!

Charlie.
