This reeks of black helicopters and there is no basis for the concern. In
fact, the posters blindly assumed the Arbitron PPM transmitted data by means
of the Internet, while the fact is the PPM transmits nothing. It docks to a
base in the participant's home where data is downloaded if the PPM "checks"
and then sent by phone to Arbitron. If a dock fails to report in, it is
deactivated. The PPM does not continue to operate if not docked, in fact.

Since a panel is only about 0.003% of the population, it is pretty hard to
even find someone with a meter... and by the time you might find one or two,
they will be off the panel.

The real issue is that Arbitron has no difficulty building panels in the
market areas already being measured and is rolling out 50 markets over the
next 2 1/2 years, representing half the US population.
