![]() A few very revealing quotations: "In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill..."[1] Club of Rome, an elite think- tank working with the UN. 1. Alexander King & Bertrand Schneider, The First Global Revolution (New York: Pantheon Books, 1991), 115. "...we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public's imagination.... So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts.... Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."[2] Stanford Professor Stephen Schneider 2. Jonathan Schell, "Our Fragile Earth," Discover (October 1989); 44. "The earth continually warms and cools. The cycle is undeniable, ancient, often abrupt, and global. It is also unstoppable. Isotopes in the ice and sediment cores, ancient tree rings, and stalagmites tell us it is linked to small changes in the irradiance of the sun."[3, page 4] Atmospheric physicist Fred Singer and Dennis T. Avery, Unstoppable Global Warming 3. S. Fred Singer and Dennis T. Avery, Unstoppable Global Warming (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, 2007). "No matter if the science of global warming is all phony... climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world."[4] Christine Stewart, then Canadian Minister of the Environment 4. Christine Stewart, then Canadian Minister of the Environment, speaking before editors and reporters of the Calgary Herald, 1998, and quoted by Terence Corcoran, "Global Warming: The Real Agenda," Financial Post, 26 December 1998, from the Calgary Herald, December, 14, 1998. Cited by Fred Singer, page 4. (See note #3) - from Green Lies and Amazing Truths http://www.crossroad.to/articles2/007/earth-day.htm MARXISTS & SOCIALISTS SUPPORT THE GLOBAL WARMING SCARE Another attack on those in the western world, particularily the U.S., but also freedom loving people anywhere in the world. These socialists, and re-born failed communists of all types will use any excuse real or imagined to attack our traditions of independence and freedom from over-bearing government. Freedom from tyranny and dictatorship. The final goal is total control over the lives of everyone. It's always been the same goal. Do you think it strange, that if you check out the socialist and communist web-sites, that they all support this Global Warming, It's All Our Fault scenerio?? Just Google around and see for yourselves. I wonder why???? Such "frantic alarmism" about global warming, Monckton adds, is being peddled in the interest of extending what he calls "the atheistic, humanist, bureaucratic, centralist agenda, which bureaucracies worldwide tend to subscribe to." http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1815502/posts cuhulin pointed out the site for the above quotes. I offer him thanks, and I hope he doesn't mind me using them. Cato |

Created in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environmental Programme, IPCC's purpose is to evaluate the state of climate science as a basis for informed policy action, primarily on the basis of peer-reviewed and published scientific literature (3). In its most recent assessment, IPCC states unequivocally that the consensus of scientific opinion is that Earth's climate is being affected by human activities: "Human activities ... are modifying the concentration of atmospheric constituents ... that absorb or scatter radiant energy. ... [M]ost of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations" [p. 21 in (4)]. IPCC is not alone in its conclusions. In recent years, all major scientific bodies in the United States whose members' expertise bears directly on the matter have issued similar statements. For example, the National Academy of Sciences report, Climate Change Science: An Analysis of Some Key Questions, begins: "Greenhouse gases are accumulating in Earth's atmosphere as a result of human activities, causing surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures to rise" [p. 1 in (5)]. The report explicitly asks whether the IPCC assessment is a fair summary of professional scientific thinking, and answers yes: "The IPCC's conclusion that most of the observed warming of the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations accurately reflects the current thinking of the scientific community on this issue" [p. 3 in (5)]. Others agree. The American Meteorological Society (6), the American Geophysical Union (7), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) all have issued statements in recent years concluding that the evidence for human modification of climate is compelling (8). |
