BBC about us "Bad Americans"
I just listened to the BBC interview groups of people from around the world
about why we (Americans) are the most hated race/country in the world!! I live in the Philippines and I can see that we are hated here also; all they want is our money. They all hate us but the next word out of their mouth is can you help me get to America or do you have a son that can marry my daughter! As a lot of you know I have lived all over the world and I have almost no respect for most of the people where I have lived. It is unreal to see the poor in these countries and the rich feeding off them. Most of you just don't know what filth is, most of you don't know what hunger is, most of you don't know what it is to live on the street with your family with everything you have on your back. I try to help as I can in every country I have lived in but you can't help, they can't/won't help their selves so you can't teach then "to fish" and they will steal everything out of your car while you are trying to help them. I give the local Catholic and Methodist food funds here and that is all I can do. I can't help them one on one because they just keep taking. World hunger is the saddest things in the world but you can't help them they hate us because we have something but they won't work for anything. |

Bush in the wake of the terrorist attacks in 2001. Finance Secretary Margarito Teves said his department is preparing to make representations with the Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC), which manages the fund and determines which countries qualify for the funding. So far, Teves said the Philippines has only qualified for small grants and has not been able to access the so-called Compact assistance offered by the bilateral fund facility. |

Ric, yes they do and at least one reason for their hate just might be related to -us- poking our noses into -their- business...like tinkering with their elections, installing -our- leaders in -their- country like the Shah of Iran. The Iranians aren't stupid. They remember that and are still ****ed. In the late 1890s, we (the U.S.) caused 10 or 20 thousand Filipino military deaths and 250,000 to 1,000,000 civilian deaths, something I'm sure they weren't real happy about and I'm sure they have not forgotten. The mindset of many people though is not Christian based but is money based. I'm not sure where you are trying to go with this. A LOT of Christians are "money based". Kenny Boy Lay and Jeff Skilling of Enron, Bernie Ebbers, the Worldcom guy, Kozlowski of Tyco and Scrushy of HealthSouth were all good Christians--and definitely "money based". |

impression that their medical/dental facilities are not up to par in comparison to the U.S. Where do you go when you need standard or emergency medical or dental treatment? wrote in message oups.com... I am going to just stay home or at the beach place, give money to the two churches and try not to hurt anyone. I wish I could do more but the people won't let me. Burr Sounds like a plan.. I grew up in a place called Crystal Beach. A one time amusement village
near Niagara Falls. A great place to grow up in the 50's. Carnival atmosphere in the summer... could here a pin drop in the snow in Winter. The amusements and the ship that went from Buffalo to the Beach are all gone. Just a dumping ground for realestate retirement homes. wrote in message ... Great diving. Rented a boat every day for a week while I was there. Spent the second week down in the Keys. Camped at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Partied at a nice place called Tiki Isle on Key Largo. It was on it's own little island just off of Key Largo. (The little bridge to Tiki Isle was only about twenty feet long.).) I think it might not be there now. Went to Key West for a few days on that overseas highway. I know that they built a new one since I was down ther last time. My mom and dad had a nice little piece of property with a mobile home on it with a few palm trees in Crystal River, and another little place outside of Orlando. There was a really nice place in Tampa on the west coast, called the Kapok Tree that we used to enjoy going to for a nice dinner now and then. Beautiful place at night with all sorts of fountains lit up. I think that place is gone too. Friends of ours that retired to Florida lived in Bradenton. They're divorced now. Haven't heard from them in a while since they split up. The kids took out U.S. citizenship when they were eligible, and got married to a couple of good guys down there. They had one of those big kidney shaped pools in the back yard. Another good diving spot was the Blue Grotto. I think it was about a forty minute drive from Crystal River. (Might have been more). Cave diving way back in and then down to 110 feet. Pitch black when you shut your lights off. Really great to get away from our Canadian winter for a few weeks in March. I always prefered the gulf side of Florida. The Sarasota area, and Siesta Key Beach were nice as well. I only went up and down the east coast maybe three times. The gulf coast just seems nicer somehow. Maybe a bit slower, easier pace of life at the time. Not so built up. But that might have changed now. I hope it hasn't gotten spoiled over the years. I've always loved Florida. Always a good place to recover from our Canadian winter. Cato |

Crystal Beach Florida is actually quite a ways south of Crystal River. I was confusing the two. Crystal Beach is a lot closer to the Tampa area. Time for me to go to bed. Overtired. Cato |

My aunt owned Kelaghers Variety at 93 Derby road. Pretty much the only variety serving the community then. Cousins worked at the post office at Queens Circle where we used to hitch a ride on car bumpers to get towed along the ice in winter. Americans and Canadians got along like blood brothers in that place. Americans were the main source of income for the variety and the cottages family members owned. The Canadiana was the name of the ship. We used to dive for coins that the tourist would throw from the ship before leaving for Buffalo on it's runs. Great memories. It was and still is in the heart of a Carolinia forest area. Beautiful wooded areas and crystal clear swimming quarries. Point Pelee, a short distance away, shares the same climate as Northern California with many varied types of animals, insects flowers etc. 'Kinda like a paradise in the middle of nowhere. That's for sure. "The Comet" was a fantastic ride for the time. Great old wooden roller coaster. At one time, years ago, it was one of the most highly rated wooden roller coasters in the world, by some international roller coaster organization. Maybe it still is. Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada was one real fun place that many people will long remember. A great amusement area that was a magnet for Americans and Canadians for years and years. A lot of folks from Buffalo, New York bought properties in that area. When it closed up, our Canadian Auto Workers Union made arrangements to have the park to ourselves with our families on the last day before the park closed. I stayed on that roller coaster for about eight or nine trips around. You will remember "Laff in the Dark" of course. Lots of fun. Now for a really good coaster ride, you have to go over the border to Darien Lake in New York. They have some really good coaster rides there. Lots of fun at that park too. I think the Comet still runs as "The Cyclone" at The Great Escape (Lake George, New York). Cato- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Ya, the Niagara Peninsula is a good part of Canada. Mild climate, lots of history. It's were I grew up before I started traveling through Canada and the U.S. One of the nicer spots. But getting too industrialized and built up for my taste. And too much traffic. Lots of air pollution now expecially in the summer time with that brown haze hanging over the cities. Really evident when driving over the Garden City Skyway on hot summer days. We live in that stuff and breathe it. Can't be good. But my memories of the area when I was younger are good memories to be sure. Cato |
