The connections to the circuit board go open because it gets stressed a lot with the plug and cord getting moved or bumped and the only thing holding it in place is solder. And in some stuff, there's a switch to disconnect the battery built into the power jack so that supply goes through that same problematic part. Wiggle it and see...
