Unfortunately my radio history wasn't as wonderful as some I've heard on
this NG. After wearing down the battery on my dad's car radio, I was given a 6 transistor AM portable when I was 10 years old. Unfortunately I went to a boarding school for blind children and one of the boys ripped out the ferrite rod antenna. I borrowed my mom's 12 transistor radio for a while until my dad bought me a Lloyds AM/FM radio. Having become addicted to shortwave from listening to the Pye radios at school and my mom's Westinghouse floor model, my mom gave me a Sony AM/FM/SW radio. I loved the image-free reception it had. I bought my own shortwave radio second hand from a friend. It's the RCA CR-91A military surplus radio. I still have it and it still works fine except around 19 MHz. By the way, I have my mom's Westinghouse radio and it works quite well.
