Just getting into SW listening. Wondering which of the portable antennas
work best? How do the spooled 23-foot wire antennas like the Sangean
ANT-60& Kaito AN-03L compare to the antennas made from Slinkys I see
listed all over Ebay?

IIRC - The 23-Feet Roll-Up Antenna's use Litz Wire
with a Durable Outer Insulator like a Coax uses.

Using the 23-Feet Roll-Up Antenna "Clip-To" the
Radio's Whip Antenna.


However, for 'permanent' At-Home-Use a Slinky Dipole
Centered in a Corner and rig along Two Adjacent Walls
with a Speaker Wire feed-in-line can perform better.

Either use a 1/8" Mono-Plug with a 'portable' AM/FM
Shortwave Radio's Enternal Antenna Jack -or- Connect
directly to a Shortwave Receiver's HI-Z Terminals.

The Dipole will generally be more Quieter then the
simple Single Wire Extention of the Roll-Up Antenna
-and- Since the Dipole is a "Balance" Antenna it
does not require a Ground.

Plus - For the Most part 'mounting' the Dipole in a
"Corner" will change it from a basic Bi-Directional
Antenna to a Omni {Quad} Directional Antenna.
