But about two weeks ago, WABC radio became impossible to hear in the Poconos after sundown. And although the daytime signal is still strong, WABC it is not likely to he heard here in the dark again. What happened. An advancement in broadcast technology. WABC flipped the switch for HD Radio. Something many stations are doing with, so far, little notice from the public." http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbc...20071001/LOCAL... Just like Edweenie, IBOC sucks. Interesting that the daytime signal can be heard, but no nighttime signal - anyway, I emailed the article to WABC, not that it matters... Phil Boyce, PD of WABC, which just had the second highest book in the last 7 years, already said it did not matter.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Good - he has just ****ed off all of the "don't matter" listeners in the Poconos! No wonder, your arrogant industry is headed into the toilet! I wonder what the people will do for information if the worst case scenario happens and we have to rely on the FM broadcast network which is laughable at best. I guess after getting slammed by terrorists, we can all find a talk show or some blatantly stupid program to listen to instead of things that really matter like the safety of our country. It is about like the 2003 power outage in NY and a lot of the Eastern parts of the country. I wonder if Dwardo has a plan if something like that happens on a larger scale. I'm sure all those set top satellite boxes, TVs, and all will be usable in a power outage of any magnitude. I guess when we burn those bridges to analog AM clear channel broadcasting, we can rely on the HD Radio to carry us through. I hope it never happens but with the state of the world these days, it would be best to be prepared. Not to mention keeping an SW radio around with batteries, solar power, etc. You just don't know. But I am sure that Frackelton has thought this out prior to his rah rah pronouncement of the greatness of HD Radio. |
