In fact, I remember one topic I had to defend was a mock UN debate on "El Ecuador ha sido, es y siempre será país amazónico" which was basically the same as the slogan, "haz patria, mata un peruano." What some people fail to understand is that culture is acquired, not hereditary. I know an American / Anglo family that adopted two kids from Mexico... the kids are as American as anyone born here. Or look at the Jolie / Pitt adopted kids; despite their birthplaces, they will be as American as their parents. |
