My wife has a family genealogy database containing links between about
32,000 people. In it she has shown that my mother and father are
related by marriage back about 8 generations ago and it shows that I
have ties to two presidents.

Clearly if you look hard into any family tree you will find a lot of
interesting and unusual connections. For instance when the USA was
much more rural it was not uncommon for very close relatives to marry.
