I have an old DX-440, and Im thinking about gutting the electronics
and moving them into a tabletop type of custom case unit. I never cared much for the vertical standing type of portables, but the DX440 is a great radio aside. I know that moving things around from one case to another can introduce interference, especially if the leads are longer than before. Does anyone have any thoughts on making such a change? Im particularly concerned with the tuning knob as it will be moved to the front of the base case instead of the side where it currently lives in the stock unit. Im usually hesitant to perform such surgery on a great radio like this, but I actually have two of these. Thanks for your input. |
