Icom 756 Pro III vs. NRD-545 vs. AOR-7030+

I have used my 756PROIII (with MW mod) for the last three years with superlative results on the MW band. My latest best catch is CFUN Vancouver BC which is 10,000 miles away. See my review at:http://www.dxing.info/equipment/icom_ic756_plimmer.dx I have also had a long hands on with a 7030, see that review at:http://www.dxing.info/equipment/aor_...r8a_plimmer.dx but I didn' like it's ergonomics. A fine radio though. I have also had use of a 545D and found it a poor performer against the 7030, and not in the same league at all as the 756pro3. If you spend your money on an Icom 756 PRO III you will be a happy chappie indeed and extremely satisfied with your puchase. Another option might be a preowned Drake R8B = a great radio. A VERY wise suggestion. There are frequently R8B's on ebay. I'd seriously consider this if I were in the market for a tabletop. |
