![]() "Dan Say" wrote in message ... Why not pile in and tell the CRTC (copy to CBC) to stop the phase out of 690 kHz What can the CRTC do to prevent a licensee saying, "I do not want that license any more?" The CBC is one of many broadcasters in Canada who have changed from AM to FM in Canada in the last decade. The CRTC seems to be encouraging, by policy and practice, the cleansing of the AM band whereby eventually the only AMs will be in large markets where a broader range of programming is perceived to be needed. About 40% of Canadian AMs are now gone, and more applications and grants for moves to FM come through each week. Like many other nations, ranging from Austria to South Africa to Ecuador, AM station counts in Canada are being minimized. |
