We can't compete with slave labor wages in China. Blame Washington.

Amen!

Well, no don't blame Washington for the success of manufacturers in
low cost third world countries. Blame growing demand from consumers
like you and me for the cheapest price consumer goods. If we were
willing to pay a premium for USA made goods then the third world
manufacturers would not have a market for their goods.

If you can convince me that Uncle Sam isn't obsessed with taking bribes from
big business then ok. Uncle Sam was bought out so big business could move
manufacturing elsewhere to use slave labor and then ship their products back
here to sell. Thereby putting MANY Americans out of work.

"Uncle Sam" is big business. That's what modern fascism is. Benevolent
dictators, surrounded by fat gay guys, running the world as if it was a
business.

Hi,

It looks like the E1 has been discontinued:

Abb N

====================

I was never comfortable with the quality control in manufacturing of the E1
and resisted purchasing one. It maybe a very fine reciever but I jut do not
like a history of questionable construction and a large number of failures
as demonstrated in this NG and elsewhere. Too bad.

Both the Grundig and Eton names will suffer especially as their equipment is
built in China that simply does not have any substantial quality to any of
their produced products. I trust products made in Japan, Malaysia and to a
degree India before China, but would much rather see same made in the US or
Canada.

I opted for the Icom R20 instead.
