They must have changed their mind since they put the add for the
Satellit 1000 behind the front cover of the 2008 Passport. No mention
of the G1 or 1000 on the Eton website.....but the E1 is still there.

Despite what the naysayers say, there still seems to be a lot of activity in the
world of SW.

Well, according to the Passband.com article, Eton's Walter Hess
confirmed only that the Eton E1 was being discontinued. He was
evidently not in a position to comment on the Grundig Satellit 1000 /
G1.

As the shortwave radio selections on the Eton website seem to indicate
a shift away from Eton branding toward Grundig branding, my guess is
that the Eton E1 will soon re-emerge as either the Grundig Satellite
1000 or G1.

Well, no don't blame Washington for the success of manufacturers in
low cost third world countries. Blame growing demand from consumers
like you and me for the cheapest price consumer goods. If we were
willing to pay a premium for USA made goods then the third world
manufacturers would not have a market for their goods.

Good. It was an over-priced and over-hyped Chinese-PCB's-made
assy-in-India-and-the-phillipines piece of crap. The Eton was
almost as hyped-over as was it's predecessor the Sony 2010
which was another medicore radio.

True the 2010 was poorly rendered, but I see no long list of "fixes"
here for the E1, like we had for the Sony FETs always frying.

Washington does what it's told to do. You vote every 2 years. Follow
the apathy.
