Default 60 CYCLE HUMMMmmmmm

I'm a late-night MW listener.

My radio picks up a strong 60 cycle hum
any time it's "off station".

I'm not near any hi-tension lines.
I don't think it's a power-company prob.

If I walk around the house with radio,
the noise is louder in ome spots than in others.

Only possibility I can think of;

1. Inadequate ground rod for house wiring ?

2. We have a post-lamp out front controlled by electric eye.
( noise from controller ? )

Any ideas on how to isolate ?
How to eliminate ?

It's the lamp controller. WW Grainger has one with a real relay. I
don't know the exact nomenclature.
