No mention of his direct responsibility for much of modern space activity (his postulation of what is known widely as the Clarke Belt, a zone of space wherein objects fall at exactly the same rate as they orbit the Earth, making geostationary/geosynchronous satellites, and, therefor, global satellite communications possible). Quite likely because NASA had so little to do with geosynch satellites which were first proven by Hal Rosen and Tom Hudspeth of Hughes Aircraft Company with the SYNCOM satellite. I forgot, where exactly is the Hughes launch center? Hughes built (now bought by Boeing) the satellites but as Hughes never launched on their own. |
