Then Drop the Far-End of the Horizontal-Out-Arm so that it is at or near the surface of the Ground. -or- At Least a 30 Degree Angle of Slope from the Apex. [ Angle between the Vertical and Sloping Wires is 60 Degrees or less. ] You then have created your Sloping "L" Antenna. For some frequencies related to the Length of the Vertical-Up-Leg : 1/8WL, 1/4WL, 1/2WL 1WL . . . You have an Omni-Directional Antenna Element. For some frequencies related to the Length of the Sloping Section : 1/8WL, 1/4WL, 1/2WL 1WL . . . You have a Directional Antenna Element favoring the direction of the Far-Down-End. For most frequencies NOT related to the Length of the Vertical-Up-Leg and Sloping Section : You will have a Directional Antenna with a Heart Shaped {Cardioid} Antenna Pattern that favors the direction of the Far-Down-End of the Sloping "L" Antenna. Know this about your Sloping "L" Antenna : You Should Point It's Far-Down-End Toward the Direction of Interest. IIRC - Somewhere It's In There* . . . Antenna Models - 2nd Edition -by- L.B.
