Sangean ATS-909 Radio's SSB -versus- Sony ICF-SW7600GR Radio'sAM-Sync

I find the sync feature exceptionally useful on the 7600G & 7600GR. I
do prefer having a tuning knob, however. But of the compact portables
with tuning knobs that are on the market today, the Eton E5/Grundig G5
is probably a better choice than the '909. The E5/G5 has better
sensitivity off the whip and the tuning knob isn't plagued by
chuffing. And the price is much better than that of the Sangean.
That's my take on it, at any rate.

The US Circuit City seems to have those for 99 dollars. I will keep an
eye on the Canadian version (The Source) to see if they are having the
same sale. The G5 is now 150 dollars, which is pretty good, but another
fifty dollars less would make it a mandatory purchase.

Radio Shack closed out their branded version of this radio a few years ago
for under $150. I bought one, kept it a year or so, and resold it on Ebay
for a little profit. Can't believe the Sangean version is currently selling
in the $250 range. You got an awesome deal at $91!

Yeah, and that's $91 in 2008 dollars which aren't worth much anyway. A
good deal if he ever gets the radio.

NEW! I decided based on research and that deal to go with it. I hope I
am not making a mistake. Also, keep in mind this is my first real SW
radio and if I am truly bitten by the bug, I will end up getting the
Satellite 750 for my home use, down the road.
* Check out this page and while the top says around $250, scroll down
about half way and you will see the $91. It came to about $97 with

for lack of a better word, stupid.

Best to you always,

Greetings: did you go to Radio Intel, and Eham on the internet and
check the reviews for the Katio KA1102, or Degen DE1102?
Passport to World Band Radio rates it pretty highly and gives it
the "Editor's Choice"

I own the Panasonic FR2200, the Sony 7600D also sold as the
ICF2002, (bought the 7600D back in the eighties... still like brand
new.. works great, certainly got my money's worth) :) , Eton E5, Eton
E100, the Kaito KA1102 and KA11, and a couple other radios, and I
like them all, but the Kaito KA1102 is probably my favorite right now
for compactness in travel, and features.

You might want to check it out.,..
Best regards..

Dear "Haci,"

Well, have you gotten the radio yet? If not, have you gotten any word
on it? What about your payment? I think we'd all like to know.

Best,

Joe

It has to be used - there's not much to listen to on SW anymore. I
wouldn't invest more that $25 in a SW radio, such as the Kaito WRX911.
