Telamon and dxAce will be along shortly to tell us why dead ducks are a
GOOD thing for the US Economy and that dead ducks in the name of Liberty
are no vice.

They may even try to convince you that these were TERRORIST Ducks which
are better off dead than to be allowed airspace access to the US.

Personally, I think they were innocent birds, trying to stay alive in a
hostile environment.

This was originally heard on CBC radio, Internet details follow:

=================================================
Company and government officials estimate there are 500 birds trapped in
the toxic pond in a disaster that has never before been witnessed in the
northern Alberta oilsands region.

================================================

================================================
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - Hundreds of migrating ducks are dead or dying
after landing on a tailings pond owned by Syncrude Canada Ltd. and ice
surrounding the small lake full of toxic sludge is hampering rescue efforts.

http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2...423441-cp.html
================================================

================================================

The migratory birds landed Monday in the toxic waste pond at the Aurora
North Site mine north of Fort McMurray, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.
reported Tuesday. The pond is owned by Syncrude, officials said.

Environment officials said the birds are "clearly heavily oiled" and are
not able to fly. Many are dying.

**Syncrude** partners include Imperial Oil Ltd. , Petro-Canada ,
ConocoPhillips , Nexen Inc. , Nippon Oil Corp. 5001.T unit Mocal
Energy Ltd. and Murphy Oil Corp.

Gasoline has gotten so high priced, and getting higher priced all the
time.I might just park my big old 1978 Dodge van and not pay for the
next liability insurance payment, due in August of this year, it's an
every six months thingy.

The ONLY places I drive to anymore are to the food store every two or
three weeks, when my sister comes over here on Sunday afternoons to see
if I am still alive and kicking and she brings me frozen food
leftovers,,, she wouldn't mind taking me to the food store.

I drive to a discount tobacco store about once every two months or so
for six cardboard cans of TOP brand name cigarette tobacco.I drive to
the Animal Health Products store about once every three months for a big
33 pound bag of Pro Pac www.propacpetfood.com dog food for my little
doggy.Nothing but the best for my little doggy, she eats better than I
do.

I can call a taxi cab to go to those stores and save all kinds of
money.Metrocenter Mall www.metromalljackson.com is 275 foot steps
South (South is always best) of doggy's couch.Piccadily cafeteria is
across Highway 18 from Metrocenter Mall and there quite a few other eat
joints (in the mall too and there is a big Sears store in the mall)
withing an easy walking distance of doggy's couch.The Chevron gas
station within a three minutes walk from doggy's couch has a mini Subway
in there.

I don't need any stinkin Canadian oil sands.I own a 1961 made in Germany
moped (it has bicycle pedals on it and only 16 original miles.I can buy
new tires and inner tubes to replace the dryrotted ones) and I can putt
putt around the neighborhood on my moped.I also own some very old
bicycles too, they date back to the 1940s and 1959s, big heavy made in
America rugged tough bicycles, I can fix one of them up and ride it
around.I need the exercise anyway, it would be good for my health.

Hey, that very cute young lady whom is going to move in next door to me
real soon, maybe she will let me ride along with her when she goes to
the food store.I would really like that.

The extraction and refining of Oil/Tar Sands costs 7 times more that
refining standard crude oil. Oil/Tar Sands from Alberta are not nore
will they ever be a financially viable method of producing fuel. The
only reason they are extracting it now is that it's subsidized by the
Govt to the tune of 50%. When that goes away the whole operation will
shut down.

It's not just the subsidies. The companies now use mainly natural gas to
get the heat to extract the oil. They buy it from themselves, cheaply,
then deduct the RETAIL value of the gas as the cost of operations. This
alone gets them more in profit than the minuscule royalties paid to the
govt.

They are getting a free ride AND have about the same compulsion to run
cleanly as a Chinese operation. Scum.

Read the filings of Suncor. Oil sands are profitable when petroleum is over
$30 a barrel.
