HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A 78-year-old man is tossed like a rag doll by
a hit-and-run driver and lies motionless on a busy city street as car
after car goes by. Pedestrians gawk but appear to do nothing. One
driver stops briefly but then pulls back into traffic. A man on a
scooter slowly circles the victim before zipping away.

The chilling scene _ captured on video by a streetlight surveillance
camera _ has touched off a round of soul-searching in Hartford, with
the capital city's biggest newspaper blaring "SO INHUMANE" on the
front page and the police chief lamenting: "We no longer have a moral
compass."

Most, if not all, states have Good Samaritan laws. These run the gamut from
simple protection of those who stop and render aid to actually requiring by
law that you stop and render aid.

and paramedics were there in moments. You're not supposed to touch
injured people unless you know what you're doing.

Bull****. How do you exactly manufacture a crisis with the video that was
shown. It wasn't some faked footage. Just because you aren't suppossed to
render aid to an injured person who is severely injured, doesn't mean that
you don't stop and either make a call or get someone there that is a medical
professional. Being a dumbass is your lifes work

Manufactured crisis? Paramedics there in "moments"? Both are lies. And
the third sentence of your post is disingenuous.

"First aid" is just what it says it is and something even a child can
render until the professionals arrive - stop the bleeding, check the
air passages - it saves lives every day.

And how about someone simply stepping up to direct traffic around the
victim so he doesn't get run over again? That doesn't take much
involvement much less skill.

Rationalize your conduct as you wish but don't expect decent and
caring folks to not recognize it for what it is. Your "f**k him,
ain't my problem dude" mentality is why tragedies like this occur all
too often.

If it were you or one of your loved ones lying paralyzed and bleeding
with traffic zipping about you might have a different attitude.

Be very careful, karma has a way of dealing with individuals like you
- I've seen it so many times.

dumfounded at first. Why does the film stop?

Yes I saw the vid, horrible. People just gawking, walking by. NOT ONE

does have a way of dealing with people like hin. Seen it happen many times
too and well its hard to feel sorry for someone with that ****ty of an

Yes Billy karma is a very real phenomena. I often wish I would have
written down all the incidents of karma invoking its velvet fist of
justice to people who brought it upon themselves.

Just recently I've seen two examples of karma. One involved a man who
bragged about drowning a litter of kittens - he later drowned while
swimming in a lake.

Another involved an avid hunter who got his jollies out of killing
animals. He was shot by his own dog - no kidding. He was crossing a
fence and layed his shotgun on the ground and his dog was running
around it and stepped on the trigger and blasted him.

Many times karmic justice is a long time coming and not always served
upon the offending individual but upon one of their loved ones. When
I was in high school I remember a kid who made light of a girls death
in an automobile accident. Many years later he married and had a
daughter. She died in a car wreck when she was about the same age as
the other girl had.

There are many other examples but the point is made. I hope everyone
heeds it.

I seen a case of it recently at a place where I used to work. A woman that
took great pleasure in screwing over employees in regular basis ended up
dying of pneumonia at the age of 47. Seen a lot of people get the shaft.
Very mysterious that she had the privilege of laying off 50 plus people at
the same time she was getting ready to take a different job to advance her
career. She had enough nerve to look at one person and say I guess it will
be hard to make your truck payment. Well it wasn't a month later that she
ended up dying. She had been doing her thing for several years. Like they
say, what goes around comes around.

Very interesting Billy, thank you for sharing that with the group. I
don't delight in other people's misfortune but if it is deserved I
don't pretend to be sad about it either.

Speaking of greed and crooked bosses, how about Enron CEO Ken Lay?
After ripping off billions of dollars from ordinary citizens already
struggling to make ends meet he croaked at a relatively young age.
His criminal conspiracy made heating oil & gas so expensive many had
their heat cut off in the middle of winter. And his looting of the
workers pension funds caused many retirees to lose their life savings
and health care benefits. His actions caused many deaths but he could
not be charged with murder.

But it didn't matter, Karmic justice prevailed - just as it always
does and always will.
