I listened to all 3 LA rock stations (KHJ, KFWB, KRLA), conditions permitting, in Scottsdale, AZ most nights when I was a kid. KOMA and WLS as well. I also picked up and listened to KOMA (Oklahoma City) and WLS (Chicago), not only while in college, but after returning home from military service in 1970. Not only did I DX on the radio as a kid and young man, but also did it with TV, getting stations such as KMID (Channel 2 Midland Texas), WOAI-TV4, KOTA-TV3, KOOK-TV2 from Billings, KDIX-TV2 (North Dakota), KCKT-TV2, all using a very small UHF-VHF antenna on a 10-ft mast on our home in Fresno, CA. In fact, we got KMID from Midland Texas quite often during the summer months. |
