I have been flirting with purchasing a Wellebrook SW loop for a year
or two now... does anyone on list have one? Specifically paired
with a Satellit 800 or E1?

I received my Wellbrook ALA 1530P (indoor version) a few days ago. My
receiver is a tentec rx320.

I have been using a couple of 'long' wire antennas. One is inside and
runs around a couple of rooms and is about 30m long. The other is
outside but not very high and is about 35m long and connected to a
length of coax. I only use that when I can have a window open. My
house is primarily made of wood so no real problem for internal
antennas.

My interest is SW only (broadcast + amateur and I hope some digital
modes soon).

First thing I noticed with the wellbrook loop is the noise level
dropped by a huge amount. Comparing the signal when listening to SW
broadcast stations with the 3 antennas the wellbrook is far better
overall. The wire antennas are ok for strong broadcast signals but
fading was a real pain because of the high noise level. Listening
to amatuers the wellbrook wins hands down.

I have found little to no affect when I have rotated the loop or even
when I've laid it flat on the floor. I believe that this is more
noticeable on lower frequencies such as MW. I must remember to tune
in to the BBC one 198 KHz sometime.

So far I am very impressed. I'm still moving the loop around to find
the best place for it. I haven't tried it outside yet (it is water
proof so can be used outside).

My only gripe to date is the time it took to be delivered. About 3
weeks and I received no response to email queries as to the status of
my order.

Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with Wellbrook Communications.
My view of the performance of the antenna areis totally subjective.
