From a news item at www.arrl.org:
On Monday, October 20, the ARRL filed a Petition for Modification or Cancellation of Experimental Authorization (Petition) with the FCC with respect to WE2XRH. According to the FCC, this experimental license -- issued to Digital Aurora Radio Technologies (DART) -- proposes to "test digital transmissions in 4.50-5.10 MHz, 7.10-7.60 MHz and 9.25-9.95 MHz for a terrestrial digital radio service to the citizens of Alaska." According to the web search of DART, this is a DRM operational test for two years with 100kW transmitter output and 660 kW ERP. Has the FCC lost their senses again? Or did they get a big kick back? How could they possibly issue an experimental license for this disaster waiting to happen. Doesn't the FCC have any engineers there anymore? I guess they don't care about WWV at 5 MHz or the rest of the spectrum they will destroy.. Read the entire story at arrl.org |

The ARRL is only interested in the damage to 40 meters. 100 kw? The FCC is nothing these days but a bunch of Bush appointed airheads who care only about trying to auction off as much bandwidth as possible. |

"Some large companies are pushing DRM by convincing program producers and broadcasters to start airing in DRM ahead of time, but unless there is mass availability and penetration of receivers on the listeners side, this will remain - unfortunately - a technological experiment, and broadcasters using it to reach their listeners now, are clearly throwing their money out of the window." http://www.egradio.org/index.php?name=FAQ&id_cat=7 LOL! Hopefully, Obama will get rid of the criminal FCC commissioners. |
