"Sound" does not mean bullet-proof. Nor does it mean that everything
is going wonderfully at the moment or that nothing needs to be done.

that does not mean that you need to have your arm amputated or to
receive massive doses of morphine. In other words, your body may be
perfectly sound-- and radical medical treatment can do more lasting

(1) If you're sick as a dog, you are not medically "sound." You are
correct, though, that some treatments willhelp you and some may harm
you.

(2) After declaring the economy "sound," John McCain then halted his
campaign (well, not really) so that he could go to Washington and push
the most radical medical treatment anybody was even comtemplating at
the time. So maybe his problem was just that he contradicted himself.
