Well, the real deal polio vaccine that actually worked went into
national distribution in either '53 or '54. If you had a vaccine in the
40s, it must have been the experimental stuff -- which, by the way,
DIDN'T work. So, if you didn't get polio, it was because you weren't
exposed...no thanks to that experimental stuff. Either that or you got
your dates wrong and really got the vaccine in the early 50s.

I don't have a photographic memory.Perhaps it was somewhere around 1953
or 1954 when the school I went to was doing Polio vaccinations.

I remember my sister being one of what were called the 'polio pioneers'
when she took the test vaccines in 54 that were officially released in
55. This was in the Leavell Woods neighborhood of south Jackson MS.
There were sugar cubes dipped in some red liquid, and then there were
some shots called boosters. http://tinyurl.com/Salk-Vacccine

The sugar cubes were Sabin Oral Vaccine. These came after the 3 Salk
shots. I had both.

Distinctly remember that.Maybe I will look my arms over real close
(never mind that naked woman tattoo on my left arm, I did that one
meself many years ago, with India ink and a needle. It has faded somewhat
over the years) for my old polio vaccination thingy.

Like they say in Limey Land, Worrrrrrrrrrrrk.

Reason I bought a package of three 3 M painters masks and a respirator
mask www.aosafety.com at the Lowes store a few weeks ago, later on
this year I am thinking I might paint my raggity old 1978 Dodge van, a
gold/bronze color. Some of those auto paint chemicals will knock your
arse out! if you don't wear a respirator.
