I hope they don't turn the HD back on. The signal level looks like it dropped a little. Is the backup transmitter on the same antenna? -- Telamon Ventura, California |

If it's an MW-50, it should be an "alternate main", and should be able to be connected with the real tower. |

If it's an MW-50, it should be an "alternate main", and should be able to be connected with the real tower. It's a DX 50. Few of the 70's vintage MW series are in use any more, thankfully. And the auxiliary runs, like the main, into the pseudo half wave tower. Alternate main means it is used regularly, while an aux is a backup. The DX 50 is definitely a backup to the Nautel. |

Clear Channel's West Coast flagship station has no competent engineering staff? Jesus Gawd, theyve been ****ed-up for YEARS!!! New model transmitters often have design issues that only show up in the field... it's possible part of it even had to go back to the Maritimes for modification. Unless they issue a press release, which is unlikely for a technical issue, we won't know exactly what is at the cause. This is why stations have auxiliary transmitters and even, in the case of KFI, auxiliary antennas. Clear Channel's West Coast flagship station is KIIS, not KFI. It might even be said that KIIS is the entire company's flagship station. |
