From Clear Channel-owned Inside Radio - IBOC is a disaster!
"IBOC is yet another disaster. As people go out the door by the
hundreds, the higher electric bills continue to run IBOC transmission systems that a teeny audience receives, why bother. Let’s face it, in this economy, buying an IBOC radio is a luxury. That doesn’t even take into account the lack of programming running on that wasted power. Being an engineer, I watched our power bills nearly double at the transmitter sites due to the extra air conditioning and the great analog transmitter suddenly becoming a world class heater running in hybrid mode... Good-luck with that 10db power increase - stations will not be able to afford double electrical bills, and total replacements of tranmission systems. All of this only to line the pockets of iBiquity. HD radios have never sold, and stations are turning off IBOC. Good going, Bob Struble - another disaster, after your disaster at Westinghouse. Do you think any other companies will hire you as CEO? Doubtful. Your legacy will be the biggest scam ever fobbled onto radio, and one of the biggest tech disasters in history! Is your staff still threatening stations to convert? Signs of a disreputable, desperate company. SiPort lied about its low power chip of 110mW, becasue that is in HD Radio Playback, not live HD Radio. Samsung's chip is still a power-hog, as is your ****ty boat-anchor KRI armband paper weight. Doesn't Clear Channel own Inside Radio? LOL! |
