We need UV from theSunto charge the ionosphere. ... so .,sun spots are cooler ... so darker .. so wave lenght is lower .. so give out more uv than normal that sound right ? G . Sounds right to me. Not quite right. UV is a higher frequency than visible light and X-ray are a higher frequency than UV. Low to high frequency is infra red (radiated heat), visible light, UV, X-rays. -- Telamon Ventura, California |

I use good old "Roy G. Biv"* to remember it. (For those unfamiliar with this mnemonic, "vide infra," -- pun intended.) So, we get... infrared ("below" red) -- red (the "R" in Roy) -- other colors, in order -- violet (the "V" in Biv) -- ultraviolet ("beyond" violet). A little Latin and etymology goes a long way. I don't get to the beaches anymore, but when I used to, I used to tell
them bikini babes,,, Alright now, that side is done.Turn over and cook the other side. I made two trips to The Can Man scrap iron yard today. That woman (I reckon she is about my age) who works in the office is cute.I told a guy waiting his turn to get paid his scrap iron money,,, She is cute.He told her I said she is pretty.I said,,, I better get away from here, she might be married and HE might be in there! cuhulin |

Smallspotslike this are not going to have an effect. Largerspotshave flares that generate X-rays, which strongly charge particles in the atmosphere depending on the height above the earth cause layers to have different dielectric constants, which in turn refract the radio waves back to earth making long distance communications possible. Right now we have asungenerating a weak by comparison but steady X-ray stream that is weakly charging the particles into ions in the atmosphere so the daytime high frequency is not so good but night time low band is very good with the mostly undisturbed earths magnetosphere. -- Telamon Ventura, California- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Ok .. wrong angle on the uv .. I was thinking that the 'wave length' was shorter ..... white to dark ......so its not the actual 'spot' that genarates the x ray radiation .. but the 'flare or flux lines' that appeare to come from and go back into the 'spot' .... as per the magneto gram ...... final take ......try this 1. the 'flux' that is 'flowing' from +/- magnetic 'aeras' .. gives off x-ray radiation .(how .. energy collapse.transform to xrays .. 'led' type of thing?) . the bigger the 'event' the bigger the x-ray level .. so more spots = more x-rays = more layer inoisation 2 when the flow exceeds the 'magnetic' constraint and ruptures , this releases what ever is in the flow ,particals, making a solar 'flare' .assume these are high energy particales .. which once free .. do not collapse . which on arival proceedes to cause deeper ioisation , over cooking the system .... no radio . power surges etc. That sounds better ? I was agreeing that sunspots are cooler regions. That's correct. The theory is that when the magnetic lines of force get tangled at a spot on the suns surface it impedes the flow of material from the inner sun to the surface causing the area to be cooler by about 1000 to 2000 degrees kelvin. -- Telamon Ventura, California |
