The radios Tecsun launches in 2009
In article , radioradio wrote: http://bbs.tecsun.com.cn/0002.asp?open=110236 The first PL-300WT review just appeared on the Yahoo Ultralight DX group. The DSP appears to be used in IF filtering as hoped, and Gary DeBock reports that selectivity is nothing short of phenomenal; comparable to what is seen by adding third-party filters to a stock radio. Sensitivity on MW and FM is also improved vs earlier Tecsun models (especially low end of the MW band). Unfortunately SW sensitivity (the real focus of this newsgroup) is not so great; perhaps other smaples will prove better or the use of an outboard antenna may help. Grundig-Eton has a radio called the G8 which superficially resembles this model; oddly it does not advertise DSP circuitry and the preliminary specs describe a larger box. Unclear whether this is just a misunderstanding, or if Tecsun has again build a custom version for Grundig-Eton which has been stripped down from the domestic model (which two eBay sellers have for $50 plus $24 shipping). This bodes well for the PL-310/PL-330 which have keypads and look to be the DSP-based replacements for the PL-200/PL-230. |
