Never had one of those, but I had several other Lloyd's multiband portables. One of them was sold under an amazing number of brand names, including Philco, Realistic, and others. Identical except for case leather color, and in some cases, the metal trim color, gold or silvertone. They seemed to hold up better than the other "off brand" stuff, like Alaron, Arvin, Juliette, and Raliegh. My dad sold almost all the off brands that were around back in the 60's and early 70's. I had some great CB walkie talkies that had solid aluminum cases on them and they worked great. They sold the same ones, in a different color, at RS, and at Olson in yet another color. I think we all regret getting rid of some radios. I still miss a Candle two transistor I had in the early sixties. Another kid in class had a six transistor I could only dream about. Well, things sure do change. He became a millionaire, but I have a FIFTEEN transistor radio. Guess who's laughing now... mike |
