"Compromise Reached on Near-Term FM IBOC Power Increase"

"Biquity’s Jeff Detweiler said at a Friday session here in
Philadelphia at the NAB Radio Show that both sides can agree on a 6 dB
increase (to –14 dB digital power) as a first step towards a full 10
dB digital rise. IBiquity had proposed such a compromise earlier and
now after completing several studies on the effects of various power
levels, NPR agrees."

"CPB/NPR to Fit Square HD Peg Into Round Hole"

"First, National Public Radio (through the CPB) has already
extensively studied this issue, more than anyone else in the industry,
and the results are pretty unequivocal that increasing the power of a
station's FM digital signal will adversely affect not only its own
analog host-signal, but also those of neighboring stations. So much
so, in fact, that the (first) study's coordinating engineer has
admitted in other fora that an increase in HD sideband power levels is
much more likely to do harm than good."

Big surprise - NPR caves to iBiquity, agrees to trash their own analog
signals. FM and AM are now trashed - LOL!

"Compromise Report on FM IBOC Power Increase Premature?"

"This is an update to an earlier report of a compromise that appeared
in RW Newsbytes. Apparently there is not a compromise on IBOC power,
at least yet, between NPR and iBiquity... While a 6 dB increase (to –
14 dB digital power) has been suggested by iBiquity, NPR has not
agreed on a specific figure, its officials emphasize. There has been a
great deal of private and informal discussion over the contentious
topic leading up to, and during, this week's convention and related
engineering sessions and public radio engineering meetings. Some of
the tone of the debate has been rancorous."

Typical behavior for iBiquity and RW - Declare victory on an issue
concerning hd radio and then the retraction comes. If anyone thinks
iBiquity is reputable - think again.
