I thought I'd share this little story written by Gregg with RRS readers.
In his haste to post it, he forgot to include rec.radio.shortwave.
There's no doubt about it, Gregg's got a good imagination. Pity he's so
short on clues.

Yeah, I have a GREAT story to tell you all - it's a little long so
bare with me because it's a good one. Maybe a month ago, I got a call
from my ISP, I was shocked, I never had my ISP call me before. The guy
who called me was super nice, at first I thought it was a trick from
the Bankok Banger himself or Krypsie, regardless what many
think....it's very easy to get someones home phone or cell....like I
have always stated "nothing is sacred" if you know your way around and
what tactics to employ.

I told the young fella to call me back in 15 minutes and he said he
would. I logged onto a database that I use to use (Invaluable Data in
Real Time in all 50 States) when I was a small business owner and I
ran a quick check and put a fresh microcassette on and waited for the
youngster to call back and right at the 14 minute mark my phone rang
and I thought "let the games begin - this will be a trip" :-D

He said he had received a "ticket" aka; inquirie from Google about a
post *I* made in RRS. He asked me if I was *Nurk Fred" and I asked him
of what post he was talking about, I mean - I know I'm not Fred and I
have never broke any TOS policies on anything in regards to usenet
since I started posting from the olden days of usenet/newsgroups and
that every group I subscribe to is not moderated and you can talk
about things that aren't related to the specific nature of the group
with the exception of three boards I have been a member of over eleven
years that are moderated.

I had just logged something on the BCB ( AM Radio) that I was excited
about and was in the process of writing a verification letter to the
radio station, so I happened to be online when he called. I asked him
to read verbatim what post/posts he was inquiring about.

As soon as he started reading....lol...I knew what thread was in
question. He seemed surprised when I started reading the thread word
for word because he only had the little bit of info on his 'ticket'
and I let him know that I wasn't Fred and he said that it appeared to
him that I was THE ONLY ONE that used my real name so it was very easy
to know I wasn't bullcrapping him.

He was stunned after I explained to him what this was all about
because he "said" ( and I think he was telling the truth ) he wasn't
familiar with the term usenet ( I think that is what he meant) so I
explained to him that it wasn't really the internet itself per se' but
that it can be a very useful tool and form of entertainment but there
are many troublemakers out there who don't have a life so they follow
people around into other groups and change their names and harass them
when it isn't warranted.

I asked him if he had the time and I would explain it ( the ticket) to
him in full detail and he said he did. So I went on to explain to him
in full detail and that it would sound like a soap opera...lol. Great
young man IMO because he listened and was so engaging in our talk and
in between his laughs and mine I could just picture him shaking his
head. So I gave him the list of 'characters' in this day/night time
24hr. soap opera. I explained to him of the 'Usenet Legend' that is
the lead man and producer of the show and that there is now a guy
(Krypsie) along with the 'leader' aka; The Bankok Banger that has
followed me over to my group that I have been a member of since its
inception and they're playing the part of victims when it is just the
opposite and if one has the time and inclination it is very easy to
see who is telling the truth.

He clearly understood everything I was telling him and I told him that
since I have been on usenet that I have never had a complaint from my
ISP and that with this handfull of posters and sockpuppets that it's
more than likely that that won't be the last one because they get so
mad and embarrased when they are called out in a public forum and
proven to be either lying or deceptive - that it's like running to
their mom and making up a story in hopes that their mommy will call
their mommy and get them into trouble and he TOTALLY understood and
explained that it wouldn't be a problem and that a note would be made
in case of future 'tattle telling.'

He also said that people that make false claims of abuse are looked at
as seriously as the ones that actually have a gripe and that it's
extremely simple to find out who is telling the truth and who is lying
and that "crying wolf" could come back to bite them because it may not
get forwarded to the ISP of the troublemaker when there is REALLY a
time that a complaint is warranted. I invited him - that if he wanted
to on his free time - that I would be extremely pleased AND he can
have fun in delving into the minds of these two 'characters' if he
"checked into" the two groups (RRS and RK) where this is going on - at
least for me. I doubt he ever will but I wished he would, he would be
shaking his head and laughing just about as much as I do and it's good
for your health to laugh as studies have proven. It shows what a big
bunch of babies these two really are...lol...."I'm going to tell your
Mommy." Only on usenet does it happen. Keep complaining you two.
